Fat Boy On A Bike

This is about my journey from being an overweight, 20 a day smoker to achieving a personal goal of cycling in excess of 1000 miles in 15 – 17 days. Given the enormity of the challenge, it is also the perfect opportunity to raise money for a deserving charity, the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, and you can find out why they have been chosen and the work that they do on the charities page.

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Neil, and what makes this challenge even greater, is that at the time of writing I am a 20 a day smoker, the lure of fast food is often all too tempting, and many years ago exercise and I had a big falling out. So the only real fitness I have entering this challenge is as a result of playing five a side once a week.

Land’s End to John O’Groats is one of the most notoriously difficult UK cycle routes that anyone can endure. Not only do you push your body to its physical limits, but mentally too. This is why I am setting my ambitious sponsorship target of £5000, so please give generously and whatever you can afford. This can be done via the Just Giving link that can be found on each page of this website, in person, via cheque in the post, etc. etc. etc. On the topic of sponsorship, some people will use the money raised to fund their trip, I will not be doing this and so 100% of all monies raised with be given to the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
